Our family has many birthdays within three weeks in March and April. An opportunity to combine birthdays and music in Tullahoma, TN. With the discovery of the concert my brilliant wife reminded me that the State Park was closer than the house and a camp site available. A birthday tradition began.
Old Stone Fort State Archeological Park is about 45 min south of our home base. The park has the Duck River and several trails and camping. We took the camper there the previous Fall so we knew how much our Jayco would handle capacity wise. There were sites large enough to support the multiple birthday individuals around the camp fire. Let the birthday tradition begin.
Celtic Roots
Traditional Celtic music includes many elements. For more than 40 years The Chieftains have served as ambassadors of celtic music to the world. Almost 20 years ago I discovered was a celtic group with a twist almost 20 years ago at a Highland Games Competition. The group is known as the Tannahill Weavers. Most celtic musicians are Irish. The celtic tradition includes any fiddler in the United States and Canada as well bagpipes and penny whistles. The Weavers bring traditional music from the home of clans Chisholm and MacEwen. This also the home of bagpipes on battlefields and in tribute to fallen soldiers.
The Celtic Cup Coffee House has never forgotten the celtic roots including bagpipes. There is nothing more Scottish than bagpipes and I am Scottish at heart. Piping on the green started in 2012 as a local bagpipe competition.
Birthday Tradition to Continue
It was at the fourth annual Piping on the green when all things came together. The Weavers were coming to a coffee house in Tullahoma, TN. It was a great day of music capped by a birthday celebration around the campfire with family.
The closest thing to heaven on earth.
