Working Road Trip Adventure – When Our Work Takes us on a Road Trip

July 12, 2017 By Mark Chism Leave a Comment

Working Road Trip FunAs we waited for our trailer to be repaired from a meeting of the awning with a tree the repair meant setbacks and delivery kept being pushed back.  The dealer in Paducah KY said that it would be ready for pickup Wednesday instead of the weekend before. This meant that we would pickup the trailer as an extension to the working road trip. We would drive from Murfreesboro, TN to Paducah, Ky and finally end up in Wapakoneta, OH on our way to Sandusky, OH. It was also the beginning of a 10 day trip near King of Prussia, PA before traveling home. It all starts with the blogging conference my wife was attending and then a week of work for me in PA for a combined working road trip.

We had the Lance 2295 back and survived a long travel day. There were a couple hours remaining to a stop in Sandusky, OH at the Sandusky / Bay Shore KOA.  My wife was attending the 2 to 1 blogger’s conference just down the road from there. Her little yorkie pup misses her every time she leaves.

The stay included an outstanding meal at the Red Gables Mesquite Grill, an Al Capone restaurant. The restaurant staff quickly seated my wife and I for our date night. Our waitress gave the background of the restaurant. The food was outstanding including dessert. A great finish to our stay in Sandusky.

On to the next stop

Next day we moved 450 miles to the stop for the next week and my work in Philadelphia, PA. My wife took the first leg as we left Ohio. As we traveled across Pennsylvania what a change in scenery. The mountains gave us a spectacular burst of fall colors. We made our way to the Brandywine Creek Campground in Lyndell, PA arriving in the evening. The next morning I went to work, but my wife awoke to peak fall colors. As she toured the park yellow leaves falling around and the rippling of the creek. She had a beautiful office for the 5 days of the stay.

After work on Thursday we headed to Feby’s Fishery Restaurant on the River in Wilmington, Delaware. We took the rental car for this adventure. Good thing. I missed a turn to get on the main road figuring I would pick it up later. This ended up winding through the Pennsylvania countryside at dusk. We were  traveling about 35 mph when a 4 point buck gave us an up close and personal encounter. I am still not sure how we missed hitting him. There were no other adventures as we drove to dinner. My wife enjoys crab and this was an opportunity for fresh crab. I enjoyed a fresh seafood sampler that will long be remembered. Another state off the remaining states list as we prepared for the 3 day journey home.

Working Road Trip Complete

We leave for home and stop at the West Virginia welcome center, 2 states complete. Next stop Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in Broadway, VA for a good nights sleep. For our last night of this trip we return to a family favorite 3 hours from home. This is the Riverside RV Park and Resort in Sevierville, TN.

Completing a 2200 mile round trip and another working road trip complete. Do you find adventure and travel while working? Share with us in the comments below.
