Toronto Adventure One of a Kind
Our Toronto Adventure came alongside a business trip. Adventures often come from unexpected opportunities which the family took advantage. Homeschooling the kids allowed a great trip along side a business trip. This Niagara – Toronto – Detroit driving is one such memorable adventure.
First Stop Niagara Falls
The trip started with a 2 day drive from our home in Murfreesboro, TN to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, about 780 miles. Our van pulled into the Marriott Falls View hotel with a tired family. We made our way to our Falls View room where the kids discovered a listen to the falls vent along with a unobscured view of the falls which relaxed the kids. We then discussed the next 3 days including the “Maid of the Mist” boat ride and the butterfly conservatory. The 6 of us had a wonderful place to return to after walking the streets of the city and hiking the hill back to the hotel.
On to Toronto
Next leg of the trip was an 80 mile trip to Toronto. While checking in at the hotel we understood that valet parking was the only option for our van. This meant that we had to unload school supplies and suitcases. Homeschooling continued over the next four days in the room. My wife worked out a routine with the maids so they had opportunity to clean the room. Our education decision fascinated them. With my work finished, we took a day to visit the Toronto Zoo. The zoo was amazing and needed another day to fully experience.
Return via Detroit
For the initial return we drove the 250 miles to Detroit, MI. While there we stopped at The Henry Ford Museum, an amazing collection. The next day we drove 570 miles home. It is important to take any and all opportunities when it comes to children. The trip was made possible through planning and a spreadsheet of opportunities.
