The Honeymoon – Our First Family Adventure

Honeymoon-fun-Chism-Trails

The hustle and bustle as wedding day approaches can be maddening. The ceremony was wonderful with family and friends around. With the ceremony complete we were ready to begin our life together. My beautiful wife climbed into our car and we were off on the journey of life. We were off on a honeymoon that was the first of many family adventures. The Lord blessed me with a wife who loves the journey.

Honeymoon Adventures Begin

Great place to stay

We left Murfreesboro, TN on our way to Sapphire, NC and the Sapphire Valley Resort. We  spent the evening driving through the Great Smokey Mountain National Park in the dark. In the dark with my new wife soundly sleeping on my shoulder. It was a relaxing drive by creeks and along rivers without a GPS or even cellphones. We arrived at the resort and my wife awoke as we took the bag from the car to the room for the next few days. The next day we explored the resort including a walk around Fairfield Lake and other amenities. Other days we took advantage of a hike to Bridal Veil Falls and visited downtown Highlands, NC. It was a relaxing step into the surrounding Appalachian and the beauty of hiking and the sites to be seen. It set the stage for future adventures wherever they took us.

Returning home we passed through Cherokee, NC as well as a leisurely drive through Great Smokey Mountain National Park for a stay in Gatlinburg, TN. This was before the aquarium. We stopped at Hillbilly Golf that was lost in the recent fires and later walked downtown hearing the creek waters running no matter where we roamed. We soaked in the sunlight and the beauty of the surrounding trees. Pleasant memories of this wonderful city.

More Family Adventures to Come

This was the first of many visits to this wonderful place with memories for the entire family and it was also the spark for a willingness to journey as a family no matter where it took us. Do you have sweet memories of your honeymoon adventure?
