With a small taste of Maine complete we turned our eyes toward home. The remaining week was a time to take opportunities at hand and again this included planned and unplanned opportunities and allowed our return home. Our plan was to finally get to see the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter in Ky.
Vermont is Beautiful
We spend the morning driving from Richmond, ME crossing wonderful state of New Hampshire arriving in White River Junction, VT. We spent 2 days at the Quechee / Pine Valley KOA. I had planned another side trip when I was informed that the Quechee Gorge was very close and well worth a visit. We spent the morning at the gorge and the near by village including local shops. My wife and I took my mother-in-law for her pewter fix with a side trip to Danforth Pewter in Middlebury, VT. The day was relaxing with everything close by. The next day was one of the longest on the trip. We drove to Southwoods RV Resort in Byron, NY. Wonderful people and a restful sleep.
Tire Pressure Warning while Driving
Next stop was the Homerville KOA in Homerville, OH. About an hour earlier on the Cleveland interstate we picked up a nail in a truck tire and received a low pressure warning on the console. We pulled over on the interstate, pulled an electric tire pump in our tool box and back on the road in less than 20 minutes. My wife loves her Platinum Ford truck! At the campground, AAA put the spare on the truck and we were ready to move on the next day. The next stop was Indian Springs Campground in North Bend, OH for 2 days and a pre-planned visit. We also encountered a special visitor at our door constantly.
Creation Museum
Once setup, we went to spend the afternoon at the Creation Museum. This was a first time visit for all of us and we wanted to complete the visit prior to the newly opened next day visit. Since the opening of the museum about 10 years ago the museum presents a Christian perspective. The museum is home of Answers in Genesis. The ark replica was also a founding desire of the organization.
The Ark Encounter opened just before we arrived. It is a full-size replica of the ark detailed in the Bible. As you leave the parking lot the ark is hidden from view. It quickly takes shape as you round a curve. As you leave the bus the full size comes into perspective. There are 3 levels inside are packed with biblical information and available technology. As a Christian you quickly understand the possibility of a story questioned since childhood. It is a lightning rod for non-believers, but it attracts visitors from around the globe as the day we visited.
Finally home and ready for the next travel opportunity.
