Must De-Winterize Our Camper – New Year Adventures Begin!

As this mild winter yields to spring the camping urge hits. We need to de winterize. An open few days and the new camping begins. With the Lance 2295 winterized, but packed and ready! This was the agreement when we purchased it and so our camping opportunity can be taken on short notice and the weather does not matter. So the camping new year begins with winter still here.

De Winterize Time

We spent an afternoon de-winterizing and filling the fresh water tank in preparation for the freezing night ahead. Heater is on and we are ready for the night ahead. No frozen pipes the next morning. Oh what joy! We use the fireplace during the day and checking tank levels we prepare for a second hard freeze the next night. Once again no frozen water and a warm camper. This day allowed me to put out a water house and sewer hose. We determined that storage capacity was four days including propane, fresh, gray, and black water. I have experienced the frozen water hose due to an unplanned overnight freeze. There are additional longer-term concerns for the full-time RVers. It is nice to know that a whole range of opportunities are available at a moments notice.

Year Round Camping Venues

Year-round camping is not for everyone. Campgrounds might heat the water supply and have limited hookups. We chose Spring Lake RV Resort in Crossville, TN. Another example is the Riverside RV Resort in Sevierville, TN where we schedule an annual camp time in the Gatlinburg area. Not all campgrounds and State Parks are open for year round camping.

Re Winterize again

As we returned home winter decides to return. We had 2 bottles of anti-freeze. The Lance 2295 has 2 well marked switches so 30 minutes later the camper was winterized once again. With our first camper it required contortioning under a bed and an hour later it would be complete. The Lance has met the needs and it is ready to go at a moments notice.
